Job Summary: Responsible for communicating with the driving fleet to meet expectations of
the company’s goals and its customers through employee supervision, logistics, customer
service, reporting and recording duties.
Key Areas of Accountability:
Employee Supervision
- Responsible for supervising assigned commercial truck drivers which includes
providing coaching and guidance as necessary.
- Responsible for monitoring and providing feedback to drivers based on performance,
in conjunction with the Logistics Operations Manager and Human Resources.
- Responsible for determining staffing demands and schedules appropriately to ensure
that all customer needs are met without fail.
- Responsible for answering, and promptly responding to, after hours and weekend communications.
Logistics
- Responsible for proactively planning loads and routes for pickups and deliveries
according to customer requests and in compliance with DOT regulations and
company policies.
- Responsible for understanding and reviewing daily logs and communicating any
problems associated with the logs to Logistics Operations Manager and the driver
when necessary. Must also be able to understand DOT regulations concerning
Tractor/Trailer axle weights and any safety issues.
- Responsible for communicating with customers regularly to book orders and schedule
routes appropriately.
- Responsible for making sure that customers are provided with BOLS, PODS, ETAS
and whatever else is needed in a timely manner.
- Responsible for proactively seeking new opportunities for company growth and
development.
Customer Service
- Responsible for receiving incoming phone calls, making phone calls, and other forms
of communication with customers and vendors.
- Responsible for handling and resolving customer issues and concerns and for
reporting to the appropriate supervisor as necessary.
- Responsible for working as a team with supervisors, co-workers, employees, clients
and other persons as necessary to enhance the overall efficiency of daily operations.
- Responsible for maintaining courtesy and professionalism during all interactions with
the organization’s personnel, clients and other contacts.
Reporting and Recording
- Responsible for recording, maintaining and executing data related to each day’s work
such as load planning data in logistics systems in a timely manner.
- Responsible for immediately reporting to Safety and the Logistics Operations.
Manager any incidents, accidents, log violations or any other actions that may hinder
the integrity of Perfect Transportation.
- Responsible for recording and reporting other information as necessary.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Education and Licensure: High school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate’s
degree or two or more years of college is preferred.
- Work Experience: At least three years of dispatch and/or logistics experience is required.
Must have a strong understanding of DOT and FMCSA regulations. Must have knowledge of
electronic logging and satellite truck communications along with a strong understanding of
geographic distances. Must have experience working with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, CRM Dynamics)
and computerized logistics software, preferably TMW Logistics Software. This position also
requires organizational skills, the capability to adhere to deadlines, and the ability to handle
pressure and high stress peaks effectively. The ability to communicate, both verbally and
written, clearly and concisely and interact effectively at all levels across the organization and
customer base is required. Brokerage experience and experience with planning loads to
optimize fleet performance is preferred.
- Working Conditions: Work is performed in a controlled office setting. Must have the ability
to sit and stand in the same position for prolonged periods of time. Must have the ability to
handle stressful situations and able to successfully communicate any problems to your
immediate supervisor.
- Equipment Operated: phone, computer, printer/scanner/copier/fax machine, and other
office equipment. Also operates TMW Logistics Software and additional computer software
programs.
