Job Summary: The role of the Accounting Specialist is to perform accounting functions related to transportation and manufacturing operations, work amongst accounting peer group, participate in general department clerical responsibilities, reporting and recording duties.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

Accounting Tasks

 

  • Receiving and accounting for inbound/outbound raw materials
  • Inventory reporting and review for order management
  • Produce product POs as needed
  • Accounts Payable functions
  • Accounts Receivable functions
  • Inter-company transactions when product is bought/sold
  • General office clerical tasks such as filing, paper/ electronic file organization and answering phone calls.

 

 Customer Service 

 

  • Responsible for communicating unpaid invoices, invoices not received or incorrect.
  • Responsible for working as a team with supervisor and co-workers to provide outstanding customer service to customers and vendors
  • Responsible for maintaining professionalism and discretion regarding with customer and vendors regarding account related information.

   

Reporting and Recording 

 

  • Participates in timely preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
  • Responsible for maintaining vendor file information.
  • Responsible for record accuracy and file retention compliance.
  • Reports and records other information as necessary. 

 

 

Knowledge & Skills:

 

  • Knowledge of relevant accounting software, preferably Sage 300, along with advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required as well.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Must also be detail-orientated, organized and methodical.
  • Must be able to work with focus to promote accuracy in work.
  • Must have the ability to communicate, both verbally and written, clearly and concisely and interact effectively at all levels across the organization and customer base.

 

Job Requirements: 

 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required. 2 years of accounting post-secondary education preferred.
  • 2-3 years AP, AR job related, hands-on experience required. 
  • Inventory control experience preferred.
  • Must have a broad knowledge of general accounting concepts.
